These people called said I was chosen to get a 9000$ grant but I needed to send them a green dot money pack in the amount of 180$. I have never heard that you have to pay to get a grant from the government.

Offered me a grant from the government for about 9 thousand dollars. Was given another number to call to claim my grant. They offered 3 option to receive my money: Bank Account, of course that was a "no" and then there was a direct payment card and last cash in hand. Who wouldn't want cash in hand. so with that I was told to call the other number with a confirmation number given to me; I got no answer after the phone rang many times. Finally when a person answered it was weird. Can't really describe it so I hung up. Someone did verify my phone number, address and age. but no other inso was given. Thanks to Slim, I learned a few things from the website you provided.
I got a call about 20 minutes ago at 4pm. This man who had an accent like the telemarketers from India spoke with me and told me I have a grant for $800.00 from the government and that he works for the Government. Then asked me which option did I want to receive my grant, by checking account, debit card or western union. He asked did I work full or part time, my age, zip code and last name. I told him I am on disability, age and a different zipcode. He then gave me this call back number and told me it was the Department of Treasury and to call this number back immediately to get my cash processed. I called this number and a lady answered who had the same accent saying hello. I asked her who she was twice and she hung up so I called back again and the EXACT same man who had called me to begin with answered.....so I hung up. I was very suspicious with him when he first called. I guess the number to call them back was gonna be where they was going to get some more information from me or get me to send in some money. I hung up on him because I had figured the government wouldnt be doing this to begin with. It's a scam.
Same thing. Call this morning from a woman with heavy accent. Phone had a extra long delay in voice. She spoke quickly as if from script. when asked now many children I had I told her 8 messing with her and told her they were adopted. She of course did not know what adopted was. I asked for a website I could verify. She gaave me a.com. I told her no official gov site would have a .com. She put me with a Superviser named Robert at 201-741-9957 ext 70 said to call him back. no Answer. Even went so far as to give me the HHS.gov website.
