A woman with a very heavy Indian accent call claiming to be from the IRS and that my bank account was to be frozen. I told her to send me a letter and hung up.

If you are still unconvinced call the REAL IRS. They are happy to tell you the same thing I just did. It is a SCAM.
Don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize. Don't call numbers that leave threatening messages. Don't call numbers just to find out who it is. Get a call blocker.
I returned a call yesterday from a number on my home phone. A man with a heavy accent answered & told me my name and address right when I called, then referenced two letters that had been mailed to me, which was true. He then said I had knowingly defrauded the government, there were warrants for my arrest, all my funds and property seized, law enforcement that would be at my door within the hour if I didn't cooperate, all I had to do was pay $1536 dollars. I knew something was off but I engaged the guy to see where it would go. I asked how i would pay him and he said someone would come get the money. I then asked about a payment plan, as the government would most likely offer, and he said sure but I'd have to send $600 dollars first. Throughout the call I asked to speak with a supervisor but was ignored. Once I'd heard everything he had to say I told him I'd be in the driveway & to send his people to arrest me. I might have used an expletive or two. At first he was convincing enough but as the conversation progressed it was obviously not legit as his demeanor became more confrontational and belligerent. Afterwords I found an automated message on my answering machine saying my social security card was blacklisted and it was a time sensitive situation. I feel for anyone that's been taken in by this guy. I hope the cops get them!
