Scammer.....automated message threatening lawsuit by the IRS. The actual IRS would never do this kind of call....never. This is just so sad. I deal with elderly people daily......it is sad that they receive these type of BS calls and believe them!
I just received the same call as everyone else. I am on Government disability & do not file taxes, so I knew it was a scam. I tried to call there, too just to see if they would answer & they don't I let it ring while I was typing this, I'm not fast, & it eventually hung up on me.
Multiple messages were left at my home saying the IRS is filing a law suit against me. When I called the number the rep asked for the last 4 of my SSN and my birth date. I asked them why they would ask that when I cannot verify that they are from who they say they are. He told me that he cannot tell me what the issue is in regards to if I don't provide the inxfo. I again asked how I know who he truly is and he hung up on me. I then looked up the phone number on this site and found all this great info that confirmed what I expected...a SCAM!!!!!
Automated message stating "Officially a final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Service. IRS filing a lawsuit against you. To find out more about this refer to case file." The called did not provide any ID and no case file number. I did not call back.
Have been coming home from work and finding messages on my machine saying something to the effect of "This is the IRS, you need to call us." I ignored the messages, knowing that the real IRS doesn't use phone messages to conduct legitimate business.
The scammers called me again this morning, at 6:20 AM! I talked to one guy who Identified himself as "Ben Williams, from the IRS." When I started asking questions about who they really are he hung up on me. I called them back, got a different guy (both guys had Indian or Pakistani-like accents) and told him I knew they weren't really with the IRS. He said, "We are the Hartford Internal Revenue Service Company." I started to tell him to take me off their call list, but he hung up on me before I could finish the sentence.
I called back a third time. They hung up. I called back a fourth time. (By now, I'm kind of enjoying messing with these slime bags.) I asked for a supervisor. I could barely understand anything he said, but I told him if they don't take me off their call list I would report them to the proper authorities.
These guys are slime ball predators. I hope and pray someone can shut them down before they scam elderly or uninformed people out of their money.
