Scammer.....automated message threatening lawsuit by the IRS. The actual IRS would never do this kind of call....never. This is just so sad. I deal with elderly people daily......it is sad that they receive these type of BS calls and believe them!
"Warn you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 202-766-6243. I repeat 202-766-6243. Thank you."
Obviously, the IRS does not call and leave a message like this without confirming who you are.
Furthermore, when I checked the number at mrnumber, it reported:
"1-202-766-6243 is not a valid number. If you are sure that you got a phone call from a number beginning with this prefix, the caller may have 'spoofed' caller ID."
I've received 2 calls so far today from this number. First call rolled to voicemail as I was in a meeting. The message basically said, "...call this number for important information on this case: 202-766-6243" I called back, person who answered was an Asian woman with very broken English. She said they were a representative of the IRS and asked to talk to my son, but terribly mispronounced his name. I gave my name, explained I was his father and inquired as to what the call was pertaining. She simply repeated her statement about being an IRS representative and needed to talk to my son, again terribly mispronouncing his name again. I repeated who I was, my relationship to my son and again inquired on the purpose for the call. Suddenly, the woman hung up.
I received 2 more calls, but allowed them to roll to voicemail. I blocked the phone number.
