Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
"This call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 202-....
It's the old IRS scam.
Some idiot called my husband from this number, stating he was from the IRS and if we didn't give him $12,000 in the next 30 minutes he was going to have the police come arrest him and seize all his assets!! Jerks! Scumbags need to get a job and work for their money...not steal it!
So...we confirmed with the IRS that these idiots are just that...idiots and this is a SCAM!
One idiot is called 'Alex' (and he has quite a potty-mouth...shame, shame....thankfully he doesn't really work for the IRS b/c he would've lost his job with the colorful words that came out of his mouth!) and the other idiot is called 'Robin Thompson'.
Oh, by the way if you listen carefully (my husband didn't catch it the first time he spoke to them...we called them back to have a little fun...but they say they are the 'INTERNATIONAL IRS!!')
What morons!!
PLEASE don't fall for this scam...if you have to be a victim of identity theft or some low-life's scam...please don't let it be these idiots!! These two pathetic souls are about as intelligent as a ROCK!
Just got 2 calls in a row from this number but you'll be pleased to know that it was neither Alex nor Robin - it was a recording! A computer voice at that - we are moving UP the evolutionary scale, obviously - from Alex & Robin to a blasted robot! Ha, ha!
Very much enjoyed your posts - read them aloud to my husband & we agree that the demand for $12,000 was brazen to the point of Extreme Stupidity! You know, if you and I could do that and find people daft enough to comply, we could have a nice little extra income, couldn't we?
But of course, we have some things these scammers don't have --- ethics, morals, consciences ... and brains! Well, then, keep on giving the morons a hard time --- good luck!
By the way, the IRS has notices EVERYWHERE that they NEVER contact people by phone no matter how much they may owe, or how much legislation there may be in evidence to that. I guess these scammers are not only stupid, but blind and deaf, as well. *sigh*
Thank you so much for posting this information. Have heard about the IRS scams, but when I got the message I understandably got upset. Checked online & found these posts.
Very helpful!!
