Got a phone call from this idiot yesterday...threatening the same thing...."we were guilty of fraud" (according to the IRS)....this scam is so unbelievably stupid that I'd have a hard time believing anything the moron said. In sincerely hope no elderly persons believe his hype. He's a total dirt bag for promulgating this on the general public.
I just got home and had the same call "Jonathan Knight from the IRS,,.blah blah blah, I thought I'd have fun with this guy so I called the number back from my caller ID. I let him ramble on and on until he got to the part where he said I owed 3,500 or would have to pay 35,000 in court to fight this, then asked if I could pay today to avoid being arrested. I then decided to take my shot at him and said. Ok Jonathan now its my turn to talk. The person you say has warrants for tax fraud, is my minor child who has never even filed a tax return (not true, but was fun listening to him back pedal) I told him that the entire conversation was recorded, my husband was an attorney and that he was being reported to the Police and FTC. He nervously laughed and said, okay do what you have to do then hung up.. WHAT AN IDIOT!!
I received the same message from a Jonathan knight with the Indian Accent and he told me that he would fax over the warrant for the arrest of my husband and that I should go down to the politicians office and the warrant would be sent over. He also said the IRS had sent the forms to my address for my fraud. What a joke. My son got the same call from another number (571)210-5558 but this one didn't leave a message. Not sure how we stop these people. I have tried to contact the IRS to let them know this was going on but can't get a live person on the line.
Total scam. Originates in either India or Pakistan. There is really no way to stop the calls from being initiated. You can protect yourself with a call blocker, but only up to a point.
