I received a voice mail from this # , It stated it was an urgent message from the IRS and that if I didn't call back as soon as possible, they will be taking action against me.
I have received multiple calls from this number - the automated message stated that he was Dave Clark calling from the Social Security Administration regarding my 1040 audit and that I must call back immediately or legal action will be taken. I was informed by the SSA that it is a scam. I have blocked the number on my cell phone.
Called back like an idiot and was read an "affidavit" stating what I owed and that I was being charged for intentionally defrauding the government, which was a felony charge, etc. I was told that as soon as the call ended police would be dispatched to arrest me. I remained very calm but despite this the gentleman accused me of being "irate" and said he was going to have to end the call because of how i was talking to him. Basically trying to emotionally bully me. After giving me a run around he graciously offered to let me pay the original amount over the phone. I have to admit despite having numerous reasons to doubt the legitimacy of this call, I was scared and almost paid the money.
Some guy with a British sounding accent left a voicemail regarding "an important legal notice" about my 1040 tax returns and I need to call back asap before he presses charges. Ends with "Have a blessed day." Yeah, okay.
Received this message on my job voice mail. No mention as to who the message was for or anything. Ends with "Have a blessed day". Hello, IRS DOES NOT CALL ANYONE!! Not even responding!
