Just got a call from a Joanne asking for a Jacob to call her back at 800-750-6343. Since I am not Jacob and know no one named Joanne I won't be calling back. No company name left on the voice mail
This is evidently a creditor for someone who previously had my number. They were very rude and hung up on me refusing to say who they were. If they call you you have the right to demand they do not call again-it's the law and you can report them.
Keep getting calls. Called back one time and they said they were calling Juan about his past due Comcast bill. Told them I didn't know a Juan and that I've never had Comcast. They stopped calling for a while, but now they've started calling again.
The first red flag is that they will not verify the debt in writing. Once you request that and ask them not to call, pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, they must provide you with written proof and stop calling. EAS ignores these requests, therefore they are illegally attempting to collect the debt.
They are also so unintelligent that they are trying to collect debt past the Statute of Limitations. Tell them to take you to court, because it will never happen. They know they have no legal basis for their collection.
Based on the grammatically ignorant and delayed Mr. or Mrs. CAPITAL LETTERS, they clearly work for, or own this scam agency. I would not put too much weight on their post.
