Got a call from an Indian (accented) lady saying that she represents the IRS and that she wants to discuss some tax "challenges" with me... Is this a scam???
This number called me 4-5 times over the last few weeks and left messages about the same, being IRS and that there is a lien/warrant for my arrest if I don't settle. There is no lien and IRS will not call a taxpayer like that. She said her name is Lisa.
The calls reported here are coming from a cheap magicJack that was probably purchased and is being used overseas. These devices typically come with a free period of phone service for 3-12 months for calls into and out of the US, no matter where the Internet service they plug into is located. The YMAX Corp. is as a captive subsidiary that assigns numbers to these devices, and yes, this is a YMAX Corp. number. And India and Pakistan do not enforce US laws. To them, what these people do is just another job.
YMAX can permanently disable a magicJack device if they receive a complaint from the proper authorities. You should report this number and include the fact that it is probably a magicJack/YMAX number in your report.
Got the same message from above.
She (Lisa Dawson, with India ascent) said as soon as she hang up the call, she will report to police with warrant to arrest me.
