I did not answer this call, however; it calls at least once an evening and always at 20:30.  It is always listed as "SSI".  Social Security will never call you at home.  Federal and State offices send out letters; in the event that they you ALLOW them to call you - they still send you a letter as follow up and as proof of the conversation that has taken place... oh they NEVER NEVER NEVER call on a weekend... VA appointment reminders do not count.  Bottom line: donot answer calls you do not know.  If it is a legitimate call, then they will leave a message on your answerign machine/voice mail/digital service, if they do not, then to hell with them - it was spam any ways.

SSI is probably Survey Sampling International. They are very large and have many telephone numbers, and thus there are many complaints on 800notes.

They have a webpage with information on how to "opt out of getting calls from them" - it is worded to sound like they are doing this out of the goodness of their nosy corporate heart, but it's really because law and regulations require them to. Warning : after 5 years on their list, they can start calling the number given them again.
