I've also been looking for info on this # all day and I found this if it help anyone.
" This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.
ABC News released an investigative report on this scam in June. The FTC has indicted one of its ringleaders for criminal fraud:
I received calls from this number and two other numbers. Same scam. I have filed complaints with the federal trade commission and the FBI. I strongly advise everyone do the same. I then advised them the next time they called what I had done and told them if they had any questions they could contact either one of these agencies. They hung up. Go figure!
They just called me too. Very annoying!!! Some Indian chic that I was going to be arrested at my job, because someone is sueing me for 8 thousand bucks!! WHATEVER!! I think if I was really being sued they wouldent get a indian that can barely speak ENGLISH to contact me. I just told her "Sorry sweetie, I dont do bussiness with anyone out of the USA"! And I hung up on her. I hope they dont call back, because its really annoying!!
Ughhhh I wish these people would just die!!!! They are at it again... the Indian group.... ohhh I have your social security number and there is a legal file against you. Blah Blah Blah. They just started calling this morning and they have been calling my cell phone and work number. I finally had to tell them that if they call me again I will get off work grab my gun drive down to Alabama and blast them away and not think twice about it. Ihaven't heard from them since... So sick of this crap!!! They all sound the same... this time they are using the name Frank Wilson.... and it's the same message... if you do not call us back all I can wish you is good luck... Ughhhhh die!!!
