They just called me claiming that they were from the "US education department of the IRS". They were asking for my sister who is merely a freshman in high school. They claimed it was a legal matter and that it was sensitive. They left a specific name to ask for and left the number to call back. Like what most people said, the man had an "Indian" accent and there was a lot of background noise.
Same thing happened to me. And it always appears to be the same person calling from furthur education, that I applied to a loan, some other one and now this one.
This Indian guy just called me stating I owed the IRS $5,000 from 2004-2007 in which I was still a Minot hung up on me when he said I was arguing and when I call back the same man answers telling me its from 2009-2013 and if I didn't pay now the police will be notified to arrest me, I called the IRS actual number and they had no records of even trying to contact me this caller is ridiculous and needs to find a real job.
Total scam. Originates in either India or Pakistan.

RS does not file lawsuits. Tax disputes are civil matters. 90% of all IRS tax disputes are settled administratively. IRS has absolutely no authority to call on local law enforcement for anything. Local law is never involved in IRS tax disputes. If LE is necessary, US Marshals do the job. IRS does not cold call anyone and all contacts are initiated by US mail.
