I'm with AT&T cell service, and you can set up anonomous text identity so that scammers must know it to get text to you. I can't remember exactly how I did it, but it worked ! I was getting 3 or 4 robo-texts a day and I'm not on a texting plan, so it was adding up. Look into it with your service provider. Doesn't help with the robo-calls, tho. Nothing helps with that, except that if I get a robocall from the same number more than once, I add it to my contact list as "Pest", "Unknown" , or if those get full, "Pest 1", "Pest 2", etc, and then set the ringtone as silent.
Got a call at 3:34 P.M. today from this number. I am in Pennsylvania. Recorded message that starts out "Don't hang up!" He then said something about a free security system....that's when I hung up!
This number has been harassing me for the past few months. They call trying to sell a security system. I asked politely to be removed from the list, and yet I continue to receive MULTIPLE calls each and every day! Today I had FIVE missed calls from this number! This is harassment and I'm looking into reporting/suing whichever company is behind this.
Just so you all know... If you call these people back or hit a number to be removed from their list, even if they don't answer the phone... you have just told them that they "Have a live person with your phone number." You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand that being on the "Don not call list" means nothing to them. Only the honest people and businesses pay attention to it. This goes for all the unknown numbers that call you.
A good rule of thumb is if your phone does not show a name and a number you are familiar with.... DON"T answer the phone and if you can get to it in time...take it off "Answer" until it stops ringing. Keep doing that long enough and at least some of them will stop
