Just got a call this morning so they say IRS saying I owe money for back taxes and trying to settle out of court and my house is under investigation and a warrant out for my arrest, had this happen to me last year this year his name is jerry roy, last year was jouhn wright,
It's a scam!!!
Just received a call from this number and the person said his name is Officer John White, badge # 3598 from IRS Tax Crime Investigation. He was speaking quickly and I had to keep slowing him down so I could understand what he was saying. He was rude and very forcefulI trying to get information from me. After turning the tables and asking him multiple questions and telling him that my tax attorney would call him he hung up.
I just got the same call. They left a message saying they are with the IRS and that there was a warrant out for my arrest and that my house was under federal investigation.
Today received a message on my answering machine, but I'm not fooled. A similar scam was going around earlier. What struck me about this one it that the caller is very calm business type voice with no accent. It was clearly a native speaker of English, and actually sounded more plausible than the shock tactics by the previous scammers. Much of the content however, was the same. It is just another spin off the same scam. The previous time I received this kind of scam call like the guy had such a thick accent that I couldn't understand everything he said. He also had a real urgency to his voice to try and instill a sense of fear and panic. In both cases I wasn't fooled. I know the IRS doesn't threaten you on the phone with arrest. They would send letters in the mail regarding any money owed, or if they intended to do an audit. Here is more info on this type of IRS scam: http://www.irs.gov/pub/foia/ig/ci/NEWFO-2014-13.pdf
This is what my message said. "Hi this is Officer Mark Watson from the Crime Investigation Department of the IRS. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS does have an arrest warrant out for you, and your physical address is currently under federal investigation. Call me back to get the detailed information in regards to this case against you. My call back number is area code 206-414-0244. Again that number is 206-414-0244. It is very important that I do hear from you today. Thank you."
If you call the number you will get a "voicemail" of "John Wright" who does not sound like a native speaker of English. Probably was the guy who initiated the call last time they tried this scam on me.
I called to let them know I was aware this was a scam, and that I forgive them anyways. I know that may sound crazy to some. Don't get me wrong, I believe there should be consequences for breaking the law. I will report this scam to the appropriate agencies, and let them do their jobs of upholding the law. I feel sad for the victims of this crime, and hope they find healing from the emotional stress, as well as compensation for their loss. However, I also believe in personal forgiveness towards those who have wronged me (or in this case intended to wrong me). I can't imagine the people involved in perpetrating this scam have the same kind of peace I have in my life. It is pretty sad if these people think that running a scam is the best life they can have. There is so much more to life than money.
Called and LEFT A MESSAGE. couldn't completely understand him. Knew the area code was from Seattle. Couldn't understand name, but said there was a warrant out for my arrest and something to do with my property. I got the number and erased the message.
