The trick to making these calls stop is to convince them that they are wasting their time and resources to call you. This is very difficult to do since the resources that they waste are small and the reward of scamming you out of your money is so great. I have found a way however. You must proceed until you get to a live person. Then tell that person in the most forceful, obscene fashion that you can that they should go engage in intercourse with themselves and then call you back to report the results. This conveys the idea that subsequent calls will not be productive and they remove your number from the list more certainly than any other way that I have found. It also is very good for relieving the frustration that they have caused you to feel.
Perversely, this is also what is best for them since it prevents them from wasting time trying to wheedle you into changing your mind.

Called business fax at 13:00 Central Time. No message and (obviously given who it seems to be) no fax! This outfit regularly change their numbers, I have had multiple calls this week from other numbers and it's been going on for weeks. They call home, cell, fax, business and I go around blocking them as fast as I can. This is the first call I have had from this number.
We have AT&T on our land line with the Call Blocker feature. It will let you block up to ten numbers. You have to delete one after ten to add a new one but by then these a$$holes have moved on to another number.so It works fine. My cell doesn't have that feature so I resort to saving the number and renaming it Spam and adding to group I created with no ringtone. It won''t stop the calls but they no longer bother you. As far as suing them my research seem to confirm you can if the call originates from the same state you live in but it is long arduous progress. Spam calls from out of state are all but impossible to sue.
If you call the number back to press 1 and be removed from future calls, you should probably check your phone bill as it will now have a $9.99 charge because your call was forwaded/connected to a Barbados number.
These shitforbrains people apparently do not feel that calling my home number is enough for them, so now the are calling my CELL PHONE while I am at work. It does not matter that both numbers are on the ignored and ineffective DO NOT CALL list. I WILL find out who these people are!
