I had calls off and on on 2 separate phones in my home. But tour pressing 1 won't stop, it would most likely be 9.
Maybe they are spoofing thru seattle to target active phone numbers they can use. The phone company says their is nothing they can do. Well really I think they really dont care or would bother to block those types of trafficking.
I really think its about checking phones that are active. But who is selling our numbers? Maybe Amazon, or even the banks, and credit agencies. Opt out everywhere you do business even though it takes time to do so, Then you will drop off advertisers and thieves DVD's of phone numbers. Also unlist your number(s), but the cell phone you cant protect if you ever give it online to a merchant, like Ebay, or Amazon.
Listen all.... kge is right in regards to the spoofing.... The debt collectors uses companies such as Pacfictel to hide who they really are.The companies they are using are unaware of their coward tactics. I read that this same company used both phone lines on one individual... that's because this debt collector has both of their contact numbers if not all of them and because your phone is not spoof proof they can use any legitimate company they choose.
Remember the lady that sued a debt collector for millions of dollars because they were harassing her and it was not her debt.... well I found out that these companies will use the "coroners office", "children's hospital" or anything of that nature (so you can panic). When you call these businesses back using the caller I.D., they have no knowledge of what you are talking about because these companies are unaware of the actions of these cowards.
Sometime these cowards will also leave you a voice mail leaving you an 800 number to call with a reference number but not realizing that the dumb a** didn't block their number from caller I.D.... Just beware all in case you have not settle your debts... then when you can or if you can take care of it or just get rid of it with bankruptcy....
DON'T ANSWER THE PHONE. You can press 1 or 3 or 6 or 9 or any other number. You just verified your phone number and that you live there. This is printed on just about every scam calls that are reported yet you people keep an answering the calls and complaining about getting them. ANSWER ONLY CALLS FROM PEOPLE YOU KNOW.. The free security system calls, lower your credit card rates, sports survey, etc are all attempts to gather more information for the scammers.
