You can if you have an Androide cell phone. The App is called "tcallBlocking". There is a free version in which you can block up to 3 ph. numbers and then a full version that costs $2.00, allowing you to block unlimited numbers. I just bought the full version to use the wild card. By using the wildcard, you can block an entire area code by entering <206*>.
I have been getting the same calls from various different "206" area code numbers, so I found this App and it has been working for me.
I got the the same message when I call back at 12:00am. Did anyone get a call from 650-396-8052 Backbone Commun. 05/30/2012? I don't usually get these many calls,I go for days and only get calls from my family. Every three months or so I get calls asking for the guy that had the telephone before me.when I called this number 650-396-8052 a man with an india accent told me he was in India and the donot call does not apply to them, I ask the name of the company he said Northland Group and he was calling for the guy that had this phone number (I am a female). The phone number seem to be coming from California. so I believe that this India is spoofing the numbers and names. My caller ID displayed 206-496-0957 IND SUR GROUP. NORTHLAND GROUP is also in the USA.
I only got one call from this number typo. I just sent all the political calls in my complaint to the donot call and I'm begining to think that these calls are from a debt collector spoofing the numbers and names. It is strange for a debt collector to only call from a number once.
The message you received is because the REAL number "206-496-0957" **IS** Out-Of-Service. The people who called you 'from' that number (as displayed on your Caller ID) were "SPOOFING" that number. That means, they were using a COMPUTER PROGRAM to MAKE IT APPEAR that that number was calling you, when, in fact, they were PROBABLY calling from OVERSEAS somewhere, most likely MALAYSIA, PAKISTAN, the PHILLIPINES or other MUSLIN countries that are BIG on these SCAMS right now.
These scammers actually LOOK for "Out-Of-Service" Numbers for just that purpose.
This BAND OF CRIMINALS have been calling from a MULTITUDE of numbers, most of them designed to look like they come from the States of WASHINGTON or OREGON, but its not likely they are there.
They change their SPOOFED number DAILY as a way to AVOID the FEDS who are trying to shut them down. But its difficult because they are most likely overseas, so subject to a different set of laws (International.)
I have been getting AT LEAST one call DAILY for WEEKS now; sometimes multiple calls daily, and also on WEEKENDS and HOLIDAYS. If I'm around to see the call, I pick up/hang up immediately without answering to cut them off and 'confuse' their ROBODIALER. That cuts down on the repeats for that day, but they always call the next day. I also REPORT each and every one of these calls to the DNC List, so that the government will have the 'numbers' behind them for enforcement.
Caller ID often says "IND SUR GROUP" because they are PRETENDING to be a political survey to attempt to FOOL people into thinking their calls are legal. THEY'RE NOT. They are ILLEGAL TELEMARKETERS and SCAM ARTISTS - PHISHING for CREDIT CARD INFO and other financial Info. IF they get it, they will CLEAN YOU OUT; RUIN you FINANCIALLY.
