Some states allow you to claim for damages under something akin to harrassment. You can sue per violation. I've heard Florida allows $500 per violation ie. Can sue in small claims.
That 10k fine by the FCC is never enforced. The Do Not Call Registry is just a threat. It's rarely enforced. Local judges are more sympathetic (supposedly). Pass it on. Love this site.
Actually, it's possible that it's a marketing firm for Fl. bar CLE course, since someone at my number is a FL bar member, and is due to take such a course. Needless to say, no attorney at this house is going to take a course with a company that employs these annoying telemarketers.
I answered the phone around 3pm, no one was on the line ... same thing happened a couple days ago, but I hadn't bothered to look it up on the internet till the second call.
