This exact order just came into my catering business!! For 300 people, no phone number, just wanted a quote.  The emails I was given were all different and didn't match the name of the person who signed the email.  he said he was recovering from surgery.....I'm way to busy with catering to deal with scams!

This all sounds so familiar! I got a call on Monday from this guy needing equipment- couldn't get all the information he needed so got an email address to get all info needed to quote.  He needed to answer detail questions, size, etc. but his answers were too vague.  After a number of tries, we finally got him a quote and were told ..charge 1/2 to his credit card and add $3500 for his company manager. RED FLAG! My concern prompted me to Google!  Glad I did!  This is so strange! ! ! ! !

He used the operator to assist.Wanted a quote for a walk in freezer. Wanted the price immediately without giving me details. I had a feeling he was a scammer and googled the name.

Wow!  Again he used a TDD Relay Service....called IP Relay.com.  I went along with his scam.  I collected as much information as I could. He said he had a 2007 Escalade that he wanted our shop to repair BUT it needed to be towed to our shop in MN from NY.  The towing company did not accept credit cards SOOO...he asked me to run $3500 through my cc machine and then Western Union him $2500.  I should keep $1000 as a deposit for the repair.  I played along.  I got all the information...phone numbers, addresses, and credit card number and exp.  I told him I would do it.  I told the relay operator that I suspected fraudulent activity.  She gave me her customer service phone number.  I also got her operator number.  After I was off of the call I contacted Discover Card's Fraud Department and they contacted the cardholder.  Of course he never authorized the purchase!  They shut down his card.  I gave all the information that I collected to Discover.  THEN.....the phone calls started!!!!!!  Joe Scammer called our Body Shop at least 100 times....constant!  He wanted to know whether I had followed through and gone with his request!  I called IP Relay Service and reported the incident....They could not block his number because that would be discrimination?????  What?  They said "This is REALLY bad! Please file a police report with your local police department and have them call us.  We then will be able to share our information with the authorities!"  I bet I spent a total of 2 hours on the phone.  I never called the police BUT when Joe Scammer did call back for the 101th time we told him that we contacted the police, shared ALL of our information with them and that he (Joe Scammer) will be having his phone call traced.  He has stopped calling.

Do not go through with any of this, It is most definatly a scam. We have to try to put an end to this, no luck on local police, AT&T is making big money from these calls and will not try to put an end to it.  Operaters are to act like it is a ligitiment transaction. This all really sucks for whoever card they are using, imagine if it were you? Or if you actually sent the $2000.00 to the so called shipper?
Wraskey LTD wanted to order food from our business for 300 people, we emailed back and forth, then I recieved a credit card number and it actually worked, but who's to say that the money would be there in 3 days when it is supposed to be credited to our business account? another name we got was Carl Hallen and email at [email protected]. Please do not go through with this. We are located in wyoming.
