I got the same automated message, "hello this is heather...." and I stayed on to press one and speak with a live person. Once the person answered, I said i wanted my number to be removed from their list and as I was speaking, she HUNG UP ON ME! I have done the automated thing where you press two to have your number removed but obviously it doesn't work. Speaking to a person doesn't work either. I dialed the number back and the recording says that the number has been disconnected or is no longer in service.
I have received this same message ("Hello, this is Heather from Account Services..) maybe a dozen times -- twice today alone, which led me to Google this site. On one occasion I followed through with the message's directions until I spoke to a live individual. As soon as I asked the name of the company that this person represented, the phone was hung up in my ear.
I do not even possess a credit card, so there can be no doubt that we're talking about scam artists here. My phone number is listed on the National Do-Not-Call Registry. What more can be done to halt these people?
