Got a call from them this A.M. gave them a card # and the phone went dead. I called and reported the card stolen right away. When I tried to call the number back, just got a recorded message, and no way to talk to an operator. Major scam!
The call came in on a Saturday at 10:26 A.M. I was gone but saw it when I returned. I'm glad I missed it. I would have likely not answered since I didn't recognize the phone number. And I'm on the 'Do Not Call' list for all the good that does!
At about 11:45 today, Saturday, April 30, 2011, a call came in to our home phone. I answered and there was a recording that went something like: "Hello, this is Heather calling about your creeit card. It is very important that we speak with you...." I hung up.
On our other phone, caller ID showed "Credit Services" and the number 1(207)93-2630. I called that number back, and the recorded message was something like "Thank you for calling back. If you no longer wish to receive calls or would like to be placed on our do-not-call list, please press [key]." I pressed the designated key, and hope never to hear from that number again.
Why this call came through, I do not know -- our phone number is on the National Do Not Call list/registry, and it is clear that the number from which this call came is not a non-profit organization so it is not exempt from meeting the requirements of the do not call registry.
