These people called my elderly parents house looking for me. I'm sure it was a telemarketer but they have no right to be calling my parents house. They are close to 90 years old and don't need to be bothered.
Got a call from this number. A woman with an accent said it was some sort of diabetes organization and asked if my doctor had diagnosed me with diabetes?
Although I am now an Insurance Agent working at a well known brokerage firm in Michigan, I started out working in the business a few years ago making calls all day for an Insurance Agent. This guy bought leads from Lead Companies and would load them into what is called a dialer which all of the callers in the office would then have access to. Once the leads were in my computer and loaded into the dialer system, the only way we could get rid of them was by clicking a certain command- otherwise they just cycled back through the system and were called on again.
The way that the Leads worked that my old boss purchased was this:
- The Lead company would trace the online searches of people in specific areas.
- The leads my old boss (the insurance agent) got were from people in the last 6 months who had searched for/applied for health insurance.
- On our dialer program, once the leads were entered, the program displayed these poeple's first and last name, hieght, wieght, previous existing medical conditions, date of birth and sometimes even more private information.
We all somehow are connected one way or another by something we have searched for online. I know that you can get leads that are 2 hours old all the way up to 2 years old. Everyone who has posted to this board obviously has an online connection and has been on the web. The only thing that needs to be discovered is what we have all searched for that has put us into the same marketing or "lead" list.
Like I said, I am an insurance agent and I run hundreds of insurance related searches a day. I noticed that whenever I run a quote on a program I have to use that is outside of the Carriers website, these calls start back up. Has anyone else searched for insurance lately? That's the only reason why I can think I personally am on this list...
I received two calls from this number. One on June 6 and another today. I dont answer numbers I dont know, especially when they dont leave a voicemail. I tried calling back just now (after I found this forum) and I received a busy signal....thats fine because I dont want to talk to them anyway :)
