The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
They called my EX HUSBANDS MOTHERS house and left a recording saying I'd be charged with 2 counts of credit fraud if I didn't return their call. If it's a debt collector they have better means of finding where you are than somewhere you lived more than 10 years ago! I haven't even lived in that state for more than 5 years!
Total scam. "Charges" would be handled by public prosecutors and local law enforcement. Debt collectors have nothing to do with law enforcement and have no influence on it. This is just an attempt to scare you into paying them something.

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
I confronted them from the last number they called me from (615-369-9015). She said they have different offices. I asked why they are calling when BK7 was filed and noted and lawyer was provided. If any of this was real then they are violating section 362. Last time the girl was rude....this time the girl was somewhat compliant. I guess we will see. Something should be done for sure. I suggest everyone keep reporting them every time and maybe someone will do something. I can block them from my cell, but when they are calling old employers that's just plain harrasement and name shaming!
"once you are served you will forfeit your rights"...."fraudulent activity has been linked to my social security number" oh please. Apparently these callers aren't aware of how our legal system works. If there is any justice they should be in jail. I keep blocking and getting these calls from other numbers. I do not owe any money to anyone and these calls are flat out illegal. I called back and asked who they were and they identified themselves as IRC - Information Retrieval Censor - no website is available by that name. Now I have blocked this number until they start after me with a new one.
So tired of these calls. It's ashame no one can do anything about these idiots! My sister just got the same call. Some stupid lady about fraud charges brought against me. #207-494-5385. I'm sick and tired of it!
