The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.
They have been calling me and my husband for the last couple of weeks almost every day around the same time. I figured out that they were frauds right away after looking up the number online. Thank goodness for these websites! They switched phone numbers since and I have read that they will do this periodically. DO NOT GIVE THE ANY MORE PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT YOURSELF OR OTHERS AND DO NOT SEND THE MONEY! THIS IS A SCAM! I am working on reporting them to every place that I can find and to the Attorney General. I suggest that we all do this! Thank you!
The company irc claims that I will be summoned stating I owe a payday loan when I confronted them about not having a payday loan and that if I'm gonna be summoned then go ahead and summons me, Zandy the representative hung up on me.

I have received numerous calls from this number claiming the same thing. As far as I know if the law was after me I would receive a summons in writing from the courts.. Correct? Go figure?
If it was a civil case, you'd get a summons and complaint delivered to you by a process server licensed to serve proess in you state. If it were a criminal matter, local law enforcement would be contacting you. In any event, no debt collector would have anything to do with it.
Just another attempt by a phantom collector trying to scare some money out of you. Don't fall for it.
Demand a debt validation letter be sent to you by US mail. E-mail no good. Of course, they won't do this, so simply ignore the calls and block them.
