Told me they were going to help me fix a problem with my computer. Obviously I believed they were totally genuine! So I just strung them along and wasted as much of their time as I possibly could. How mean!
Attempted scam. Decided to play him a bit.
Number might also be spoofed. Not sure if it is London UK missing the leading 0. Or a USA number missing the 00 international prefix and the 1 for the USA.
Guy claimed to be called 'Vinny' and spoke with a strong Indian accent. Claimed the name of the company as Online Tech Support of 14 Hanover Street, London with head office in Dubai. Told me they worked for Windows and were Microsoft certified and that my computer had been reporting errors to the 'Windows server' for several days.
Had me run the 'assoc' command in the cmd window. Claimed that the entry which he recited verbatim, .zfsendtotarget=CLSID\{888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062}, near the bottom is unique to my computer and was recorded on the 'Windows server'. An attempt to persuade me that he was legit as he was genuinely able to see unique info (which of course it isn't, any recent Windows installation has the same entry) .Then had me run event viewer. Hung up after 26 mins when I pressed him further on the company address.
this guy told me that i have a really big problem with my computer. he needs me to tell him my info on my computer and then give him my credit card and so he can fix my problem with my computer. i told the guy no way. i did hang up and he wouldn't stop calling me from

Git the call today about Microsoft error.. Alleging I put in for repair he had my Nick name.. And got very angry with me when I told him I didn't own a computer..
