Recorded message about auto insurance. I hung up, then realized I should have at least tried to get the company name. Called back and pressed "1" to connect to someone, but was put on hold for a while and eventually gave up. I lodged a complaint on the DoNotCall registry web site.
This number called me twice and sounded like a public service emergency, but then went into a pitch about auto insurance. I filed a complaint with donotcall.gov. I advise others to do the same.
I just received a call from 208.906.8271 on my cell. I answered the call but did not press 1. Instead, I call the number from a landline. When they finally answered, the gal asked how many cars I wanted to insure. (What a racket in the background. They are really running a racket.) I immediately asked which insurance company she was representing. She rattled them off so fast I didn't catch them all, but her list included Farmers, State Farm and Allstate to name a few. Based on zip code, they broker with several companies. I asked if her company checked the DNC list and she replied yes but that sometimes mis-dials occur. I told her that 208.906.8271 has been identified online as a spam number and that I would be contacting BBB and FTC. I would suggest leaving this one alone unless you are really desperate for a rip-off.
