I always file taxes and never had problem with them, this is the message that was left in my voicemail "this is to inform you that this was a final notice & the IRS was filing a lawsuit against you and to call this number for further information" 209-643-0152. I called the number back just to see, but the line was busy. I am glad I searched this number.
SCAMMERAMA! They claimed to be the IRS, asked me what I was wearing because they were going to take the shirt off my back! Hahah! I guess the joke is on them because I wasn't wearing a thing!
The message that was left on my answering machine said that the IRS was trying to contact me, that this was a final notice and that a lawsuit was going to be filed against me.
I got a call today from what was reportedly 1-607-732-3102 (New York) and said it was the IRS and to call the number 209-643-0152 (California area code) immediately about this case file. They said they had been trying to contact me (though they did not say WHO they were trying to contact or the case file number, both dead give aways it is a scam). The numbers being different sides of the country is also a an indication of a scam. The initial IRS contacts if any return is in question is ALWAYS by mail. This was a robo call and sounded liek the voice message was computer generated. I assume they didn't want someone with a foreign accent on the call to immediately tip it off that it is a scam.
This is the 3rd or 4th time I have received this call and since I don't recognize the number I let it go unanswered.
