I too received a call from phone number 209-676-8870 that played a message saying the IRS was filing a lawsuit and to call this number. Yeah, no. I'd expect some kind of letter in the mail if that were the case.
The California location of this phone number alone should convince you that this call is from Scammy McScammington, not from the IRS. Also, the IRS never phones people to say "We're suing you."
Got the same call...hello we have been trying to reach you. This is our final attempt. Claimed to be IRS filing suit. Left this number to call. Scam. Report to FTC maybe?
I also got a message on my VM stating that they have been trying to get a hold of me and to please call the IRS at 2096768870 cause they are filling a lawsuit against me.
When number was called it just rings busy.
Talk about having a heart attack when that was heard.
I received the same message from the same number. Thank you to those who posted their experience here. Now I can go to bed with peace of mind. (Or piece of mind)
