South Asian sounding male telling me my computer was infected. He wanted me to follow his instructions and run certain programs on my computer to do a virus check. He asked me to enter 'nf' in the run file box. I asked him if I could call him back. He gave me the above number. It's a California number I think.
His number showed up as unavalable on my caller id. He said he was calling from Micro ss corp. partners with microsoft.
I denied his requests. Funny thing is, my anti virus software wasn't actually running at the time. It's normally running. Also, he said he has been getting error messages for a month or so from my computer.

Microsoft would never call you about a problem with your machine.
They would post a message to their website first.
Try this: Sure Microsoft; can you hold on for a second. They go do your laundry
Yes, I also received a call from someone supposedly working for Microsoft. They said that my computer had been sending them messages reporting that someone from the outside had access to my computer and sending messages of malware. I was told that their office was in Ottawa, the whole thing sounded like a scam and that's exactly what it is.
I am sure glad that I was not taken in by these people.
They have been trying for days and switching up name and number I got a similiar call to @mc above. They said they were from "Micro Assist" at 209-759-4929, I said great consider me notified and send me an email, Oh no he says ..you need to turn your computer on - Ha not on your life. I told them not to call mte again and have filed a complaint. A couple of days ago it was "Online PC Care" 646-884-9561 with the same type of deal.
