received call from 209 782 8580..saying from Microsoft and they detected problems with my computer. He hardly spoke English and said I would call back after dinner. FORTUNATELY, i looked this no. up and see all that is written about it and apparently it is a SCAM, youch !
He says he's from Springleaf financial and when you tell him that's not their number, he says oh we have like 29 branches....its NOTHING BUT A HUGE SCAM! BEWARE, BLOCK....DO NOT EVEN ANSWER THE PHONE
This number called me and identified themselves as "Microsoft Support" saying that my computer was replicating viruses, and "sending error messages to their satellite". They will read you a "CLSID" number that they say is unique, to make you THINK they have information about your computer.... but this number is actually EXACTLY THE SAME on all Windows PCs, and is NOT actually identifying information at all. The number they give is usually {888DCA...062}. This is a SCAM, they will try to gain remote access to your computer, and ask for $300 to "repair" it. HANG UP IMMEDIATELY IF YOU RECEIVE THIS SCAM CALL.
I got a call from hp windows service and the caller wanted me to turn on my computer and he would help me fix it. I did not have time to accomodate him and he left 209-782-8580 as a call back number and I was told to ask for mark hammer.
Identified themselves as "Windows Technical Support". Suspected a scam asked for there number, 209-782-8580. Never called back, thank-you for these posts.
