Here's a link to Canada's Government page about the DNCL which includes a link to the actual site. http://www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/goc/dncl/index.shtml I just signed up, and am hoping it'll actually work. Have gotten three calls from this number in the past couple of months. Luckily I saved the number into my smart phone and tagged it as spam. :-)
To all who have had this same problem. I don't know for sure if this will work, but I called MCI/Verizon @ (703) 886-5600 for the 2nd and last time and explained to them that if they do not take me off their automated list? I will then proceed with court action against them. Now here's the kicker: I told them that I will charge them with harassment if the calls continue and that it is happenning to many of us Canadians. I also stated that it concerns all of us that have had all these harassing phone calls and it may become a multi plantiff law suit. I hope it works and if anyone else tries please post a message to let us all know if you have had any sucess. Thank You.
Yes, calls happen frequently to us as well, some wake us up in the morning. It isn't even to anyone's cell, it is to our land line in Saskatchewan under Sasktel and we have always been "unlisted". You pick it up and they hang up. Frustrating. We are not going to answer again and we are going to attempt to have it blocked.
SaskTel has "selective call reject" for land-line telephone accounts - - You can have up to 12 #s disallowed from completing a call to your #. Dial *60 to activate/deactivate this feature and enter the phone #s onto a rejection list. The "rejected callers" will hear a recorded message that says "The customer you have dialed has chosen not to accept this call." I don't know if this is a feature that you have to pay for, like call display/name display, or if it is available to everyone with a land-line, but worth a try to find out if it works for you regardless.
I found with 1-800 #s that you can't just enter the #, it won't work that way. You have to go into the feature and select the option to 'reject last number' (which means, obviously, that it has to be the last call that was made to your phone - -hopefully no-one called right after, and you can just give them the old blockeroo!) Because they always use the same #, this feature is a viable alternative.
save it to your cell phone "dont answer" then go to select a ring tone for that number and there should be an option to send it directly to your voice mail.
