What kind of idiot spoofs Caller ID with just a first name. Didn't pick it up. Hardly ever pick up the phone anymore. 99% of my emails and phone calls are spam. Why bother.
Got a call from this number a few minutes ago by an Indian gentleman saying that I was eligible for a federal grant. The stipulation was that I had to give them a card number for a fee of $3.87 for my forms. After telling him multiple times that I didn't have acess to cards at that moment, he kept asking if any of my friends had cards I could use, saying that if I declined, the money would never be available to me again. The lengths some places will go to.
Got a call from some Indian dude telling me he was calling about my computer. He wouldn't tell me the name of his company. He said he knew my computer I.D. number...yeah right. So I boldly told him to take my number off the list and to never call again. Do they really think we're that stupid?
CallerID Name: LOUIS
CallerID Number: 210-319-5026
Called had a thick accent, and claimed to be calling from Microsoft about my windows computer. This call is complete fraud. I've had customers receive this call and fall to some degree to it, and I've had to repair the damage as they attempt to walk a customer through modifying their computer to be receptive to a direct hack attack (i.e. they will connect to your computer when its on the internet and they will do anything to it that they want, including using your machine for storage of malware or as a bot in a DoS attack on others).
DO NOT let them convince you to modify anything on your computer, they are claiming to know, but they are just taking fixed details on any windows computer and using it to appear knowledgeable.
