I get calls from these people at least twice a day. I do not know anyone in Texas and when I call the number back I either get a busy signal or a voice mail saying Metro News. I left a message to them that I was on a do not call list and to never call here again.
There are companies -- and I suspect this is one of them -- that contract with newspapers to sell subscriptions for an agreed per-sale fee. They are not really the newspaper, though they may try to present themselves that way. If you really want to get through to them, call whatever paper they say they represent and lodge your complaint with the circulation director there, or, if you can get through to him (if it's a big paper) with the publisher.
