I have been getting calls from this number for a while and i finally decided to answer the call. It was a man with an accent claiming that i was granted a $5000 check from the goverment to pay off debt since i files my income taxes on time and had not filed for bankrupcy. he asked for my bank account number and routing number and when i told him i was not giving that information out he began to tell me how this was a totally legal call. Sounded to fishy to me so I just told them to call later and he was very persistant that i give him the information at that moment. I hung up the phone but the whole thing sounds too fishy.
I recieved calls from this number and from 210-693-0814. The man has called my number at least 3 times for the last few days. I have answered twice. The first time he said he was calling from the Federal government and that I had been selected to recieved $500 for the next six months. He had my full name, my phone number and my address. He said that all he needed was my bank account number and my bank name to deposit the money and that he was going to transfer me to an automated verification line. My battery on my phone died about that time. Yesterday when I answered he stated that he was calling from the US Welfare Department and that I had been selected to recieve $500 for the next three months. He said that I would also recieve a medical discount card. He said that I had been selected because I had paid my taxes on time for the last five years and I did not have a criminal record. He asked if I would like to get the money. Playing along I said sure. Then he asked for my bank name and account number. I told him to send me a check that I would not give out that information. He was foriegn and he starting talking very fast and was somewhat difficult to understand. He said he would send the information in the mail and I could call back. I said I would be calling the Welfare Department to check this out and he started talking fast again. He again asked for my bank information and I refused so he hung up.
My daughter has repeatedly received calls for the same number (210-693-0967). When I try to call it back, he's got a recording saying "that the number has been disconnected". The caller (male, asian accent)asks for verification of her full name, address, DOB and social security number. Stating that they (no company name given) are needing to update and verify her info. to update their medical records. I'm glad that she didn't fall for his SCAM. I've placed a complaint with the San Antonio Police Dept. I am now trying to follow up on tracking this persons address. So I can "personally" straighen out any records this SOB thinks he has. You never know? I might find info that he's maybe been able to get from some poor innocent people out their that fell for his act. I'm glad that you didn't fall for his act!
