I heard from a friend about this scam. It goes like this or so I was told... An UNKNOWN number calls your phone. When you answer, they some how piggy-back on you number and place international calls. This happens so fast (within seconds) at the beginning of the call that it is virtually undetectable. I have heard the call is usually routed through an international long distance carrier base in Madagascar. So now I have to ask...did the caller say "Tune-et" or Tunis? ( :
I got the same call. I knew something was up as soon as he said he was from the IT office. I couldn't understand a lot of what he said. He told me to click on the start bar and then press 'r'. I didn't do it and hung up on him. He called back twice. The first time he called back it said number unknown on my caller ID. I didn't answer and it went to voicemail and he said "what the hell". LOL The second time he called back my caller ID showed Private Number. I didn't answer again and he hung up when it went to my voicemail. I don't know what happens when you click the start bar and then press 'r', but I wouldn't try it. Definitely a scam!
Ya they just called and I tied them up for about 10 minutes and it was kinda fun they suggested I start my computer so they can help me and show me why its running so slow. I told them the computers running slow because its cold out. I don't think they will call again. Next time ask for yowanda, yowanda make my car payment!
Just got a call from them. caliming I had the same bogus IT bug as everyone else. Was pretending to follow along and then asked where they got my number. He said "Tune-et" or something like that. I kept pressing them about where they got my number and then the guys says
"will you be my valentine. Just say yes. just be nice. It's not like I'm coming into your house or anything"
What!?? creepy. then I hung up.
