They call everyday and they never leave a message, I finally answered it and all they said was hello, I just said not to call anymore! The ID from this number comes up name unavailable
And neither does anybody else. Its never been a valid prefix, because dialing out with a 1 first thing is the access number for long distance, long distance operators, and long distance information. It still is in many cases, and the system would process this number as one of them, depending on what you dial next.
I've been getting bogus phone calls from assorted long distance area codes, followed by the 121, and then a variety of four digits since at least February. I never answer them.
In fact, the only reason I'm here at all right now, is because I got one from this number - 212-121-9949 - about 8:20PM. If you don't recognize it, don't answer it and never tell them not to call you anymore.
In the first place, all you've done so far is acknowledge to them that they have reached a functional number; and in the second place, they are criminals. Scammers. Liars. And they don't give a flying squat about either the law, or that you don't wish to be bothered by their calls.
They just flat don't give a s#it about doing anything besides scamming as much money as they can get out of as many people as possible. And they'll do anything they can do to get it.
And don't count on the Do Not Call list to keep them away either. It wasn't designed to do that, and it doesn't work that way at all.
