Received call at 5:18PM. With a heavy Indian accent, caller identified himself as John, and said he was calling from Microsoft Windows. Did I know that my computer had been sending error messages to them for several weeks? I said No. He paused and then repeated himself, and after stopping mid-spiel, I said. "Go on, I'm not interrupting you." He began again, and this time I asked, "How did you get my number?" He paused. I waited a few seconds, then I hung up.
Got two calls from this number, both went to voicemail since I didn't recognize the number. The first sounded like someone on a cell phone while walking, just repeating "Hello...? Hello...? Hello?" Three days later, got another... no one on the line this time, but I could barely make out in the background several people with heavy accents talking, saying things like "OK, sir... blah blah blah." Given the many reports of sketchy calls from the 212 area code, I'm guessing it's yet another scam call from a boiler room. Welcome to to my block list.
Received a call saying they were from Windows Support that my computer has been sending messages that they needed me to turn on my computer so they could fix it. He had a thick East Indian accent. Realizing this is a scam, I asked him sure do you need my password and my social security number? He just kept saying the same things. Please just turn on your computer so I can fix your windows. I asked if this was from my computer with XP (which I don't have) and he just kept asking me to turn on my computer. I told him my computer hasn't not been on. Finally after having fun for a bit I told him it wasn't a good time and if I could call him back. He said to call 201-399-6208, which when googled I found nothing. He said his name was Sam Parker. I laughed and said Sam Parker you sound like you're East Indian. He said yes Sam Parker and we hung up. Total scam.
I just got a call from this number and he said he was from Windows Support and it was about signals they were getting from my computer. I have been getting calls like this off and on and I am tired of it, so I just said that I don't have a computer. He hung up.
