I just got a call today from this number asking for Robert. The caller had an accent which made it difficult to understand, but it was clearly not my name. I said he must have a wrong number, so he asked for my name. I would not give it out. He then said he was with Farebuzz and needed to check my flight. I told him I had no flight, and I added I didn't want a sales call. He kept pursuing so I hung up.
While it may have been a legitimate phoine number error, alarms went off when he asked for my name before identifying himself. At the very least it's not professional and it put me on my guard immediately.
THERE HAVE BEEN AT LEAST 3 CALLS TO MY PHONE. FIRST TIME A MESSAGE WAS LEFT THAT WAS A BUNCH OF SOUNDS (LIKE SOMEONE CALLING A FAX). THE NEXT 2 TIMES THERE WAS NO MESSAGE, JUST THE NUMBER ON MY CALLER ID.
Phone voicemail from a 'Timothy' with a strange accent, nothing familiar, just bad English calling on behalf of a company which whether on purpose or not was a bunch of sounds rather than a name that I could make out...after a few words which I couldn't make out, he said he would need a photo copy of my credit card, front and back...then said, 'thank you so much, good bye'. If he had gotten me on the phone perhaps he would have given more information, etc...but that was it. SCAMMER!
just a call to my cell, no voicemail or other details. This happened within a few days of me submitting my phone number to some mortgage companies as well as major travel sites.
This turns out to be from farebuzz, a company I tried to use to get a discount business class flight. from what I read online they're not a very trustworthy company: http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/0/297/RipOff0297122.htm
