John - Same as Andy : I think if you truly read what people are saying you will see that these cold callers are IN FACT rude. If they were NOT rude they WOULD LEAVE their info to follow up on -however these RUDE callers just hang up on you mid - sentence! As soon as you say "No they aren't - may I take a message" by the time you get to "aren't" you have been RUDELY hung up on. They wouldn't even let you get part way throught your >> "thank you for calling me but ***RUDELY HUNG UP ON BY NOW** I am happy with my current adviser" and if your not then ask them for some information - who knows maybe they can help you.<< I AM SURE NOW this IS what you BOth do for a living. if you ARE JUST DOING YOUR JOB AND TRYING TO GAIN ACCOUNTS - don't RUDELY HANG UP on people. YOU try smiling and at least sat THANK YOU before hanging up on people.
~Not angry at all! :o) just tired of people wasting my time (and theirs) by RUDELY hanging up.
Yes it's the brokerage firm as Sharon mentioned. They somehow got my work number and kept talking to me about investment options even though I told them I was busy. The nerve.
Received a call at 9:09am. The caller's name was David and identified himself as from a "privately held investment bank." Looks like he's trying to identify people who might qualify for private equity offerings. His questions included investment style (e.g., aggressive, conservative); one equity holding of interest; and the amount of your investments.
I answer the phones for someone at work, and this number calls and it is "Matthew Gates" and just asks for my boss. I tell him the person he is looking for is not there, could I please take a message. He mumbles something and hangs up very quickly. Today I said "I'd be happy to take a message" and he said "no, thank you." And hung up really fast.
There is a lot of noise in the background. Sounds like a telemarketer room.
When I was a telemarketer for my first job for 1.5 months (got too many death threats even though I was never mean or rude. I was just too nice for that job and everyone else is just too mean) and I always had to use the company's name in the first sentence and I never gave out my last name. I'm confused.
Matthew Gates called again this morning, like his does everyday, at least once or twice a day. This time he didn't talk at first, but then said "Is ___ there?" And I said "May I put you on hold while I check his office?" And there was just noise in the background for a second and then he hung up without saying anything.
I'm getting REALLY iritated right now. Which is hard to do to me seeing as though how much I stand for the telemarketer image since everyone I worked with was super nice to the callers.
