Called my cell phone at 8:30 AM ET, which would have been 5:30 AM if they were actually calling from Los Angeles. Seems unlikely. Left a VM with some pitch about lowering my credit card interest rate. NOPE.
This is a robo call-- It's a recorded message that claims to have info about "your credit card" and how to lower interest rates. I've heard this message before and in the past have waited for a live person. The person doesn't have any info about your particular credit cards, but will try to sell you a credit service. Total scam!
They claim to be from Account Services and they claim that you are eligible for getting your interest rate on your credit card lowered as low as 6%. I asked which credit card were they referring to and the lady said "Capital One, Chase Bank, Wells Fargo, etc." And that it applies to any credit card with a balance of over $3,000. I don't even have a card with that high on a remaining balance. When I told her that, she said "Oh, I'm sorry for the misunderstanding." I'm not sure how they even got my information but didn't know what my balance looked like. The voices on the other line sounded to be in a noisy call center environment with Filipino or Middle Eastern accents so they were a little difficult to understand. Definitely didn't provide any personal information to them because they didn't even try to confirm my name. I knew something wasn't right when she named all those credit card companies that I don't even have accounts with.
