I also recevied a call from this number this afternoon.  It sounded REALLY convincing, especially since my friends have reported getting emails sent to them in the past 3 days by me, and yet I haven't been online in a week's time. My caller was Eric who also identified himself as a Windows representative, telling me that he got my phone number when my computer was purchased.  That was several years ago. I was suspicious and asked for a number so that I could return the call.  This is the phone number I was given.  I've tried back several times and the number was busy.  Interesting for Windows, don't ya think?  In addition, if Windows were truly calling, they would have an 800 or 877 call back number. On the third attempt, they answered, calling themselves Windows. I contacted my Internet provider and was told to change my email password immediately.  They also suggested that I contact my landline provider and report the number to the fraud department.  I waited on hold for 45 minutes with Verizon, only to find out that they do nothing.  One would think they would like to track the number to find out its validity and perhaps prevent something from happening to someone innocent.

I am a website developer and know everything what is happening on the internet. They also called my house and I pretended to be a customer only to get their website. I found it as a big scam.

Finally, I got hold of them. The so called thewindowscare.com gives the result on www.whois.com :-

You can do so by giving a right click on the page http://paymentgatewaynias.com/pay.php and click on view page source (or similar). After searching and clicking on some links within the source, I got an email address : [email protected] which is collecting all the customers personal and sensitive informations like date of birth, card details, etc. We need to get hold of the owner of this email : [email protected]

Any one who has done any sort of payment with them needs to call their card company / bank and ask them to reverse the payment / cancel the transaction.

SCAM WARNING!!!! Fraud Company called on behalf of Microsoft Windows.

As referred above in the first page of the post, there is listed the numbers of the owners of the scam company. You can contact them to get hold of them. I am copying the same below :

This Scam - "the windows care" is a product of "Octane Info Solution Pvt Ltd" which is running a huge scam. Tell Microsoft, FBI and FTC about this company which is located at FD-14, Saltlake, Sector - III, Kolkata - 700091, India.

There owners are : (numbers are Indian, in order to call you need to prefix country code +91)
