This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

A woman with an East Indian accent calls daily and has escalated to threatening legal action on my voicemail. She says she represents the US Treasury Dept and that I owe them money. This is a complete falsehood. She is a lying fraudster trying to bilk money. It is not legitimate and she is not from the Treasury Dept. She has called more than 100 times. I never answer my cell and she has become more threatening as time goes on. She leaves messages on my voicemail. Don't be fooled and don't give her any money !! These callers and their company are criminal !!

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Multiple calls and voicemails from this number asking that my husband or his lawyer (we are both lawyers) return the call as an action is about to be/has been initiated against him by the U.S. Treasury for money owed for taxes. Usually it is a foreign sounding voice. I mistakenly hit return call today and  a very American sounding man answered stating "U. S. Department of the Treasury" - which makes this scam appear more creditable. Fortunately, I know that this is not how the IRS would go about contacting citizens regarding monies owed for taxes.
