Caller from 213 262 0556 claiming to be Apria wanting to collect a past due debt of $432.71 from Feb thru Apr. My oxygen equipment had been cancelled after 3 1/2 years of use per doctor's orders and Apria came and took equipment away. I received a bill for $5.46 for the balance owed that my insurance didn't cover with a balance of zero after that.
The heavy Indian accent man claimed my insurance didn't cover the amount of $432.71 and I needed to pay that ASAP, would I be using the credit card on file to pay with? NO ! He seemed very worried that I was not going to pay that over the phone June 2nd. Told him to send me a paper billing statement in the mail showing itemization breakdown of charges and what my insurance did and didn't pay for. Really, it's June already and Apria is just now looking for a monthly payment from February ??? He tells me sending payment by mail takes 2 to 6 weeks to be added to my account. LOL into the phone. I am not paying by credit or debit card over the phone, I will pay by check like I have everytime in the past with out being turned over to this "Apria collection office". The Apria payment center I mail payments to is in Atlanta, GA the call came frome Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA.
Something smells rotten when my last billing statement says I owed $5.46 not $432.71.
I received a call from 213-262-0556. It was a live person stating they were APRIA Healthcare wanting to confirm my personal info. They provided my day and month of my birth date and wanted me to validate the year. I do know APRIA Healthcare, they are my CPAP medical supply company. I still refuse to answer their questions. I will call the local office to confirm my info is accurate. Interesting as I just became a client with them on December 29, 2016.

I would contact your insurance company and let them handle it. Apria is very well known for billing problems. Their charges are regulated by their contract with the insurance company, which is why you should let them handle it.
