Received multiple calls today, pickup the phone and no one at the other end. Often wonder if its my mother in law, :-) but again 213-283-6417 is not her number.
These are phishing calls - watchout, once they confirm your telephone number and email address, they sell the contact details, keep calling you and sending spam emails.
Received a call this morning (4th Feb 2013) from 213-283-6417.Supposedly, he "Wanted to confirm our company address" and said they had a package from FEDEX for delivery, just wanted to confirm address. When I asked for tracking number, he did not have it.
Definitely Indian middle-class English accent, perhaps calling from a call center. Its a Magic Jack number. I tried calling back but obviously no reply.
Don't know his intention of calling. Sounded very strange and am suspicious.
I got the same message just now, but from a woman. She said she wanted to be connected to the CEO and I said our phone system does not allow that and that I could take a message and pass it on. She then said she is calling from FEDEX and has a package for him and his email address is not working. She then hung up on me abruptly.
This call has come in for two days now. The gentleman said that he had dropped the owner an email and was calling to follow up. Something about "fox base solutions" or "fox biz solutions" I couldn't make out the middle word. The owner has no knowledge of this email or correspondence. I told the caller yesterday and today that if he wanted to talk to the owner, I could help him if he would just tell me what he is calling about and in turn I could expedite the process. He said he would call back. What a hassle.
I just did. Said they were from "Microsoft Seattle" and wanted to talk about records management. I think they just did a blind phone call to my firm, and acted like they'd talked to someone from our organization. I'm pretty sure my human resources manager would have given me a heads up if Microsoft was actually calling me. It wasn't a Seattle area code either.
