I had  two voice messages   from a guy with a indian acsent saying if he didnt hear back from me or my attorney god bless and he wishes me the best. So i called back and said my name, fyi my lastname is a name you HAVE to spell out, the indian acsent  lady didnt even ask to spell it! and started to going off about how i have a  internet loan for about 600 bucks.( i believe they got my number from past applications that i did fill out and of course i didnt get but they must of stole my info) I could hardly understand her acsent i asked to speak to someone else and she just started talking slower, i finally said im sorry i dont understand your acsent. After she kept repeating her self like i was dumb  I finallly said this must be a fraud, and she said ok good bye! so i googled the number and found some things that pretty much made me feel alot better! this is the number and name 2132893746 Dept of Legal Affairs . fake!

What Is this
I was awaken at 6am by this unknown # and I have had 4 calls since then with a msg that I need to give an attorney's #.. Seriously.  I checked into this prior to calling and look what I came upon.  Thick accent / could not understand a word except (do not ignore & provide attorney information)  lol  I am actually looking forward to the next call.

Indian man told me to call Michelle Brown at this 213-289-3746, he called my place of employment. I immediately called back and a Indian man (sounded like the same person) told me Michelle wasn't available the rest of the day and that I was being supenaud and would have to come to California for court for not paying a payday loan to cash advance. I've never taken out a loan from any company by this name. I asked him what I should do and he said I should just wait for the supenaud. He knew my social security number and my place of employment. Very scary and unsettling. Comforting to know I'm not the only one. What do we need to do to stop these jerks?

These "payday loan" scams have been going on for quite a while and law enforcement is aware of them.   There's a link to the FBI's website addressing the issue:
http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710

These scams seem to be coming out of India more than anywhere else and so are beyond the reach of federal law enforcement.   Unfortunately, that means the only way to stop these crooks is for the US government to get the Indian government to take action....fat chance.    Still, report them if only to get the attention of the government and most of all, complain to your congressman that you are sick and tired of this stuff and want something done about it.   Until  some kind of pressure is put on the US government, they aren't going to do anything re the Indian government.  Until then, self help in the form of being aware and not falling for the scam, along with call blocking their often-changed fake numbers is about all we have.  They can't win if you don't send them the money.

Here is a link to an article about an Email received from one of the Indian pay day loan scammers outlining what is going on.   Can't verify it, but it rings true.
