I got the same call from these same predators. These scams threatening people with legal action are about the lowest from this bottom-dwelling group of thieves. These have the potential to frighten vulnerable people (such as the elderly) into falling for this scam. No legitimate legal group (such as the IRS, etc) would EVER contact you in such a vague way and then ask for money over the phone (which is where they are trying to lure you). I just hate this one!
Left threatening collection call from a computer stating it's the US Treasury and giving a case #. Giving no name just a #. Threatening prosecution before a Federal Magistrate if no immediate response received. Stated this was a second attempt.
Just got a call from this number, & said the exact same thing as all of the above, "Ignoring this message will be an additional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate, judge, or the grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 213-291-8485, I repeat it's 213-291-8485. Do not disregard this message and do return this call. Now, if you don't return the call, and I don't hear from your attorney either, then the only thing I can do is wish you a good luck as the situation unfolds on you. Goodbye."
THE SCAM THOUGH, JUST IGNORE THIS MESSAGE :)
