**SCAM ALERT** This would actually be funny if there weren't people that fell for it. THIS IS NOT THE IRS!!! The IRS will NOT contact you via phone without contacting you through mail first. The IRS does NOT have a noisy call center with heavily accented representatives. The IRS does NOT have a direct number out of LA! Do not answer calls that you don't recognize and if you do, do NOT give them any personal information.
I got a call from this phone number. The person calling me told me that he was an IRS investigator and that there was something wrong with my taxes, he then proceeded to ask me personal questions, my name, address, phone number, etc. I told the person on the line, well if this is the IRS (as you're claiming) you should have that information in front of you? He told me that I could go to jail for not telling me the information. I told him, I never give personal information over the phone, you can send me a letter. He got mad at me and hung up!
Yeah they just called me twice.. and i dont know what to do my sister told me if the irs needs to contact you they send letters before they even try to call..
That is true Kayla the IRS never calls or emails they will contact you by mail. But these days you even have to make sure that is authentic, and that you do by contacting the IRS!
