Phishing scam to collect on debt that doesn't exist. Initial call was to inform me to turn myself in to the sheriffs office because I have an outstanding warrant and I am being sued, apparently this call was from my local sheriffs office. Phone number (213) 401-0071 was given to me to find out further information. The person I contacted at that number claimed to be the leading attorney and proceeded to read, in a monotone voice, what I was being sued for which included over $2,000 in debt. The person sounded much like the person who called from the sheriffs office. Was not clear on the suing companies or the name of the law firm because the person speaking was hard to understand. A check of my credit report has no outstanding accounts.
Caller said he was from Arlington County office in Virginia, said I was to turn myself in there by 2:00 pm tomorrow unless I called US Legal Support at 213-401-0017 by 11:00 tomorrow to resolve a lawsuit about an outstanding debt. Gave the correct number and street address for the Arlington County sheriff's office. I told the sheriff's office about this and apparently they've been getting lots of reports like mine.
