Threatening. Male caller left message on our home machine and told us we had to call him back to avoid magistrate or grand jury investigation because of a criminal offense. If we do not call him we could face jail time. He left this number (which matched the caller ID) but did not identify himself or who he [purportedly] worked for.
"Steve Martin" must be very busy this week. Just got me -- and repeated the robocall three times. Threatening phone calls are illegal so why isn't the FCC doing something to put "Steve's" employer behind bars, where he belongs. Yeah, I know why. Because they're too busy. Too busy to work for the people that hire them (you and me).
Got a call from this number. It was a recording made by a person with a middle eastern accent stating "This is an enforcement action..." They mentioned the US Treasury and second attempt to collect.
I hung up.
In addition to not having any tax, debt issues, the government still sends mail and doesn't call from cell phones.
Probably trying to snag some old people.
Similar to Tim's experience. middle eastern accent stating "this is an enforcement action"... "second attempt".. "please call 213.401.2846"... then some scare phrase about not calling is punishable or could result in fines.
The man mentions US Treasury federal criminal offense and I think he said something about ignoring this and threatens legal action. Not sure I agree with the middle east accent. No name or company mentioned. Totally a scam.
