Because these are extortion scammers in foreign country's. Most of these calls are coming from India and Pakistan. Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.
This number is a Los Angeles California number according to my Caller ID. The person with a strong foreign accent named "George Brown" from the department of legal affairs of us treasury left a message on my voice mail saying my name and that legal action would be taken against my name and asked me to call him. He said to call the number that was listed on the caller id. I could hear call center sounds in the background. He sounded like English was his second language and had poor pronunciation of the script it sounded like he was reading. Obviously a phishing scam hoping fools will call back scared and give them either personal info or money to stop this "legal action" from taking place.
Same thing. Aaron from Dept of Legal Affairs left a message stating I risk legal action if I don't call back. Ended the call "thank you and God Bless". Oh ok. Let me get on that.
